Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By accessing or using the CrawlFox API and dashboard ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.

2. Permitted Use

You may use the Service to retrieve, transform, and analyse publicly accessible web content for lawful purposes. Permitted use-cases include:

  • Price and content monitoring of publicly accessible pages
  • Research, journalism, and academic data collection
  • Lead generation from public business directories
  • SEO analysis and SERP tracking
  • Building products that surface web data with appropriate attribution

3. Prohibited Use

You must not use the Service to:

  • Circumvent authentication, paywalls, or access controls on third-party systems
  • Collect or scrape personal data in violation of applicable privacy laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.)
  • Harvest email addresses, phone numbers, or financial data for unsolicited contact
  • Scrape sites that explicitly prohibit crawling in their robots.txt or Terms of Service, unless you have the site owner's permission
  • Conduct denial-of-service or brute-force attacks on any third-party infrastructure
  • Distribute malware, phishing content, or any material that violates applicable law
  • Resell raw gateway access without written authorization from CrawlFox

4. Metering and Fair Use

Usage is metered in credits, not in requests: while your key has credits you may spend them as fast as you like, and there is no fixed per-minute request limit. When your credit balance is exhausted, further requests are rejected with HTTP 429 until you add credits or your free monthly allowance renews. CrawlFox reserves the right to throttle or suspend accounts that place a disproportionate load on the Service or on the third-party sites it reaches.

5. Payments and Billing

Credits are purchased through our checkout as one-time credit packs. There is no subscription and nothing renews automatically. When you buy a pack you authorize our third-party payment processor, Stripe, to charge your payment method for that pack plus any applicable taxes. Where a plan was arranged manually, or predates our move to pay-as-you-go credits, the billing terms communicated to you at that time apply.

Each live endpoint has a published, fixed credit cost — for example, one credit per page scraped, whatever formats you request, and one credit per ten search results — with no surcharges for JavaScript rendering or premium proxies and no end-of-period multipliers. Failed calls are not charged. Endpoints listed as coming soon, such as full-site crawl and site map, are not yet available and carry no price until they launch. New accounts receive a free monthly credit allowance, and the credits you purchase do not expire; the current allowance and per-endpoint pricing are on the pricing page. Cancellation and refund terms are described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy. Fees are exclusive of taxes; you are responsible for any sales, use, or VAT taxes applicable to your purchase.

6. Intellectual Property

CrawlFox does not claim ownership of content retrieved on your behalf. You are solely responsible for ensuring your use of retrieved content complies with the intellectual property rights of the source. CrawlFox's software, brand, and infrastructure remain our exclusive property.

7. Liability Disclaimer

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. CrawlFox is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to loss of data, revenue, or business opportunity. Our aggregate liability to you for any claim will not exceed the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold CrawlFox harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Service.

9. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account immediately for material breach of these Terms, including prohibited use. You may cancel your account at any time by emailing [email protected].

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after the effective date of the revised Terms constitutes acceptance. We will notify registered users by email for material changes.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which CrawlFox is incorporated. Disputes shall be resolved by binding arbitration unless you opt out in writing within 30 days of first accepting these Terms.
